This robot is partially trained by Bruce Lee's Jeet Kun Do.
[---Part 3 of 3 in the Robot Romance Series Specials---]

I might be saying the best for last, for this will be the last part of my first blog specials in my blogging career (talk about determination for me). Anyway, if you practice some karate moves like this robot here, Tōshō Daimos is your partner of your skills. The last of Tadao Nagahama's Robot Romance Trilogy series following Combattler V and Voltes V, Tōshō Daimos ran from April 4th, 1978 to January 27th, 1979 with a total of 44 episodes, second only to Combattler V (54 episodes). A movie with some pivotal episodes had been strung together entitled 'Starbirds', was released in the U.S. by the same company that bring Tranzor Z. Outside of Japan, the show also aired in Malaysia, Thailand, Italy, and the Philippines. In France, there was a VHS release, but unfortunately only the first of the seven episodes were available. Daimos's appearance in the U.S. was in the late '70s as part of Mattel's imported Super Robot toyline that is Shogun Warriors.

The story of Daimos is indeed a particularly love story than Twilight. After the painful destruction of their homeworld, the survivors of Planet Baam head towards the planet Earth with the goal of negotiating the purchase of land for emigration. But unfortunately however, Leon, the leader of the Baam Star People (or Baam-seijin), is assassinated by Georiya (Grovil in Filipino English), his second-in-command, and the delegation from Earth is framed with the crime of murder. Dr. Isamu Ryuuzaki (Prof. Hartford in Filipino English) has been shot and killed in the ensuing chaos. The Baam Star People, begins their reign of terror against Earth shortly after the disastrous end of the talks, and it was led by Leon's son, Admiral Richter (Prince Ulrich in Filipino English), who he, develops a variety of Mecha Soldiers against Earth's defenses. But the only thing standing between the Earthlings and near annihilation is the transforming, karate-using super robot named Daimos and its pilot, Kazuya Ryuuzaki (Richard Hartford in Filipino English), the son of Dr. Isamu. But that changes it well when he meets and eventually, falls in loves with a mysterious girl named Erika, in which turns out to be the sister of Admiral Richter. Over the divergent course of their struggles to reunite, both Kazuya and Erika each will learn that the other's people are not all evil.

Before he take the role of Kogorou Mouri in Detective Conan, Athos in Anime Sanjushi, Kenshiro in Fist of the North Star, and Ryo Nagare in Getter Robo, Akira Kamiya plays the pilot of the super robot and love interest of Erika. Miyuki Ueda, you remember her role as Megumi in Voltes V right? Well she will play as Erika. Kazuya's afro friend with a sword and the pilot of Galva FX-II, Kyoushiro Yuzuki (Edward Kramer) is voiced by Kazuyuki Sogabe, who is known as Ippei Mine (Mark Gordon) in Voltes V, and Yusuke Urameshi in Yu Yu Hakusho. Nana Izumi (Joanna), who is the granddaughter of Shinichirou Izumi, is voiced by Youko Kuri, who is known playing Miyuki Oonuma in Attack No. 1 and Yuri in Skyers 5. Get a load of this: In the Filipino English version of the series, she is introduced as the younger sister to Richard. The bad guy Admiral Richter is voiced by the late Osamu Ichikawa, who is known for his roles including Prince Heinel (Prince Zardoz) in Voltes V, the Machine Great Marshal in Kamen Rider Stronger, Mil in Star Blazers: The Comet Empire, Norris Packard in MSG: The 08th MS Team, and Masutora in Science Ninja Team Gatchaman F. Other voice actors played in the series including the late Kenji Utsumi (Balbas), Hiroya Ishimaru, Hisashi Katsuta, Kazuko Yanaga, Masako Nozawa, Ryusei Nakao, Shozo Iizuka, and the legendary Tessho Genda.

It is now time to relive the romance, the drama, the adventure, and the robot fighting that is Daimos. Daimos: Tranzor Fight!
