Wayback Series - Kishin Dōji Zenki

There's extra news just for you after the post!
Ahh just in time for my country's independence day when I writing this...

When it comes to demon beatings, then this one can eat a chestnut-like thing to exterminate it. Everyone, I'm talking about the great Zenki.

Commonly known for its title, 'Kishin Doji Zenki (or literally Demon Child Zenki)', it is a manga series that is written by Kikuhide Tani and Yoshihiro Kuroiwa who dones the illustrations. Shueisha's publication, Monthly Shōnen Jump, has serialized the mania from 1992 to 1996 with a total of 12 volumes, and it was adapted into a TV anime series by Studio Deen and Kitty Film directed by Junji Nishimura from January 9th 1995 (twenty years ago today) to Christmas Day of the same year with a total of 51 episodes, and it has spawned five video games (3 from SNES (Super Nintendo), one for Game Gear, and one for PC-FX). The English-language version of the anime is handled by Enoki Films. About many years ago, it was aired on ABS-CBN in Tagalog dub, and it becomes a widely-popular for the kids alike.

RIGHT: A full-grown Zenki, ready to consume a Karuma Seed.
It happened centuries ago when Ozune Enno, the Master of the Enno Temple, bound Zenki, a guardian/demon bound into his service to fight against the forces of evil, particularly Karuma and Zenki were sealed away once the job was completed until it needed again. Centuries later, Ozune's descendant, Chiaki Enno, a schoolgirl, is able to free Zenki, but although the demon currently has the form of a child (or a brat demon child). In order to transform this extremely defiant demon into the form that made him useful by her ancestor, she uses a bracelet that appeared on her wrist just when the servants of Karuma broke the seal that imprisoned a Karuma Seed. Zenki partially appears because the Karuma Seeds (looking like eyeballs) starts to appear, and turning people into evil monsters, and thus Zenki need again to eradicate the menace, then after the battle, Zenki took the seeds and ate it, for they are delicious (like nuts!).

Chiaki Enno is voiced by Chisa Yokoyama, who is known for her roles in the Sakura Taisen franchise (as Sakura Shinguji), Cho Mashin Eiyuden Wataru (as Doruku), and the 2011 remake of Hunter x Hunter (as Biscuit Krueger). The big Zenki is voiced by Jurota Kosugi (Nobunaga Oda in Samurai Warriors and Asuma Sarutobi in Naruto), while the little Zenki is voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi (L in Death Note and Baki Hanma in Grappler Baki OAV).

Other voice actors that starred in the series were Eiji Maruyama (as Bonze Jukai), Kiyoyuki Yanada (as the sunglasses-wearing Sohma Miki), Keiichi Nanba (as Glen), Megumi Ogata (as Akira/Goki and Anju), Yuji Ueda (as Kuribayashi), Yuri Amano (as the Queen of Darkness Karuma and Lulupapa), Ikue Ohtani (as Ako), the late Kan Tokumaru (as the Golden Dragon), Minami Takayama (as Kazue Hayami), Shigezou Sasaoka (as Goura), Sho Saito, (as Chiaki's grandma Saki Enno), Koji Ishizaka (as the Narrator), and Akemi Okamura (as Sayaka).

It's time to relive some demon-exterminating adventures with Zenki!
