This will be the summer camp of their lives... |
"That you will not be afraid; that you will see that life with Christ is a wonderful adventure!" -Pope St. John Paul II, April 2nd 2005
FOREWORD: This post here commemorates the premiere of the first part of the six theatrical films of Digimon Adventure tri. series that is titled 'Reunion'. And every Digi-fan from around the world will witness the much awaited premiere that is held on the eve of the Solemnity of Christ the King. Anyways, this my blog's first-ever two parter, in which I will divide it with some parts due to such time constraints as well as my health.
Good lord, for about when I was in grade school, this incredible title that I got stuck in my brain ever since I watch it on a Friday evening on ABS-CBN channel two, just long before I got cable from my home, as well as my laptop, smartphone, and my camera (plus my career as a photog + blogger). So in anticipation of the much awaited premiere of the first part of the series, I am going to talk about the first season that is Digimon Adventure.
Ever since this is the franchise's first installment based on the virtual pet of the same name (much more like two Tamagotchis fighting each other), Digimon Adventure premiered in Japan's Fuji TV on March 7th, 1999 to March 26th, 2000 with a grand total of 54 episodes directed by Hiroyuki KakudÅ (from Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z). Following its success, and between August 1999 and June 2000, an English-dubbed version aired in North America produced by Saban Entertainment.
Seven kids are at a summer camp on August 1st, 1999 (on that day this will become Odaiba Day for the fans), and now they started to getting to know each other a little better when snow begins to fall suddenly. They later to begin to wonder how the snow would be falling through the summer sky, the seven children then received a small gadget that resemble a gaming device, resulting it to transport the children into a Portal, and thus heading to a strange dimension called the Digiworld (or the Digital World for short). They later befriend an inhabitant each later on as they regaining consciousness since they have arrived, thus these creatures are called Digimon (or Digital Monster) The children then soon discovered that when faced with a threat with the help of their newly obtained gadget that soon to called a Digivice, they can help their partner Digivolve, into stronger, and more powerful forms to fight against the threat of evil. Wanting to find a way home as they travel through File Island, the children then learn that they are the DigiDestined (or the Chosen Children in the Japanese version), as the Digital World calls them, in which a term who are compatible with their Digimon partners. The reason the seven kids are brought to the Digital World is to help fight the evil Digimon, who had different ambitions and wishes throughout the progress of the series.
There are five story arcs in the first season: The Devimon Arc (in which my favorite moment was Patamon digivolved to Angemon, thus making a heroic sacrifice to defeat the evil Devimon), the Etemon Arc, the Myotismon Arc (this is where we introduced to the 8th DigiDestined, Kari Kamiya), the Dark Master Arc, and lastly the Apocalymon Arc.
Please come back again soon for the second parter, as I will introduced to the Eight DigiDestined, as well as their Digimon partners. Until then, see you!
